Banjo Frog ( Limnodynastes doralis )

The Banjo Frog is another Australian frog which lives and breeds with in Rockingham Western Australia and are found at Lake Richmond , the banjo frog is commonly mistaken for a cane toad in other parts of Australia

The banjo frog is also known as the Pobblebonk frog and can be found throughout Perth area's and the entire South West of Western Australia. the banjo frog occupies the vegetation opposite to wetlands during the winter, and during the summer it moves away from the water and shelter's it self by living in a burrow.
The Banjo frog is a common frog to Perth suburbs, although like many other frog species it has suffered from the loss of the Swan Coastal Plain wetlands due to heavy development. However, the banjo frog is alive and well and can be heard at night near and around Lake Richmond.

Banjo Frog is a large reddish brown to golden frog which is covered in bold black patches allover its back and hindlimbs. It can often be recognized by a black bar running from its eye's to above of it's forelimb and a pale white stripe running between its eyes and down its back. The groin is bright red and the toes slightly webbed.

The call of the Pobblebonk or Banjo frog is as its name suggests, an explosive bonk similar to a banjo string being plucked

The Banjo frog is one of the most distinctive and much loved calls of all the Western Australian frogs.
