Rockingham Gateway Your complete guide to Rockingham W.AChemeq commissions new manufacturing plant Veterinary biopharmaceutical firm Chemeq has begun commissioning its new manufacturing facility at Rockingham in Western Australia. The company said it still needed to test installed components and systems of the plant for compliance and safety under simulated conditions. More tests would follow under "live" conditions where actual products were produced. "If commissioning runs to schedule, it will take about two months to make the first product, but commissioning is inherently uncertain," Chemeq corporate construction manager Frank Dilizia said. The manufacturing facility will produce the company's veterinary drugs: CHEMEQ polymeric antimicrobial, for pigs, and CHEMEQ polymeric antimicrobial, for poultry. Both drugs are designed to supersede the use of antibiotics in animals for growth purposes. Chemeq said its approved patents gave the company a monopoly of both manufacture and marketing of its drugs in more than 30 countries, up to 2020.
